Whiz Kid Prodigy - Experimental Comic
In 2018, I collaborated with Hong Kong-native and rapper James Young to create a song that addresses the stereotype that all Asians are super smart "whiz kids." While this stereotype was more overt in past decades, it has not gone away and still exists today in more subtle forms. This comic is a visual representation of our song and the story behind the lyrics we chose. Combining both digital and hand-drawn elements, this comic attempts to address this stereotype through a narrative tale of 2 characters, first exaggerating it then breaking it to reveal a more common and authentic reality.
